Freshman Admission Requirements

Admission
Reuirements:
•
Complete the application for admission.
•
Submit a non-refundable $35 application fee. Applications will not
be processed until the application fee has been
received.
•
Send official or attested copies of academic documents from all
former secondary and post-secondary schools in an attested sealed
envelope directly from the secondary school, examination board or
university. If transcripts, mark sheets or diplomas are in any
language other than English, please have them translated and
attested by the issuing institution.
•
Request that official ACT or SAT scores be sent to Mississippi State University.
ACT/SAT test scores must come directly
from the testing centers.
•
International undergraduate students admitted to Mississippi State
University must demonstrate English Language
Proficiency to register for academic courses offered
through the colleges. (See English Proficiency section)
MSU's Institution Code: ACT is 2220; SAT is
1480.

Transfer
Admission Requirements::
•
OPTION A: One year of
successful study in a foreign university/college and appropriate
English Language Proficiency test scores.
•
OPTION B: Meet freshman
requirements and hold a minimum grade-point average of 2.0 or
higher on a 4.0 scale on all university/college courses attempted,
as evaluated by Mississippi State University. Appropriate English
Language Proficiency test score is required.
•
OPTION C: Twenty-four
(24) hours of transferable credit from a regionally accredited U.S.
college/university, with a grade-point average of 2.0 or higher on
a 4.0 scale, as evaluated by Mississippi State University,
including all of the following credits:

o 6
semester hours of English composition;
o 3
semester hours of algebra (or a higher mathematics);
o 6
semester hours of laboratory science; and
o 9
semester hours of transferable electives.
NOTE: Students who meet option C requirements will be
considered to have demonstrated English language
proficiency.
